Lifeward (formerly ReWalk Robotics) has launched the AlterG NEO anti-gravity treadmill for physical rehabilitation and athletic training. It was unveiled at this week’s National Athletic Trainers Association (“NATA”) Clinical Symposia & AT Expo.
AlterG uses the company’s Differential Air Pressure (DAP) technology. Lifeward said this introduces it at a price point that’s more accessible to physical rehab clinics and athletic training centers.
Lifeward bought AlterG in a $19 million deal in August 2023—Alter G gained $20 million of revenue in its fiscal year 2022. Alter G develops patented, NASA-derived DAP tech for the basis of its systems. The technology reduces gravity’s effects and lets patients move with finely calibrated report and reduced pain.
The acquisition bolstered Lifeward’s physical rehab portfolio, which already contains the ReWalk exoskeleton, ReStore Exo-Suit, and MyoCycle FES systems.
“The AlterG NEO is a shining example of how Lifeward has helped to accelerate the development of new solutions which leverage our core technologies and expand our markets,” said Lifeward CEO Larry Jasinski. “Our patented DAP technology has been trusted by our customers for nearly two decades to precisely and safely unweight their patients during rehabilitation and recovery, and we are thrilled to introduce the AlterG NEO so that more clinics and patients can access the benefits of Anti-Gravity rehabilitation than ever before.”
