APEX Orthopedics Investments, an asset management company dedicated to the foot and ankle orthopedic sector, has announced its establishment.
The company was founded by president and CEO Christopher Banas, along board chariman Murray Penner, MD, FRCSC; chief medical officer Greg Berlet, MD, FRCSC, FAOA, FAAOS; and chief innovation officer Stephen Brigido, DPM, FACFAS. It’s headquartered at University of Colorado's Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado.
Together, according to APEX, the group has over four decades of product development experience. The team has launched over 200 products, generating cumulative revenue of $3 billion.
APEX Ortho will focus on investing in and incubating Class II and Class II device innovations in fixation hardware, midfoot arthrodesis, midfoot arthroplasty, and Achilles tendon. The company currently touts 12 pending U.S. and international patents, along with 73 invention disclosures.
The company organized its intellectual property into four portfolio companies:
